Samaria Gorge (long way)

How much we can say in few lines about Samaria gorge, visited more than 300.000 people each year? It is 13 km long (plus 5 km entrance - exit way), reputedly the longest in Europe and the most famous of the island.

It took its name from the abandoned today village of Samaria. Although the difference of altitude between entrance and exit (1200 m.) it is a smooth footpath, that leads you through some of the most breathtaking scenery on the island. There are ancient forests of pine, cypress, rare plants, drinkable water (every 2 km.) soaring eagles and stunning views of the surrounding Lefka Ori mountains. It is a experience that will leave an indelible mark on you. It is not be missed!

After your walk you can have lunch, a cool drink or a swim at Agia Roumeli (ancient Tarra) before take the boat that will transfer you to Chora Sfakion (Sfakia) and join the waiting coaches.
