Samaria Gorge (long way)

How much we can say in few lines about Samaria gorge, visited more than 300.000 people each year? It is 13 km long (plus 5 km entrance - exit way), reputedly the longest in Europe and the most famous of the island.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

It took its name from the abandoned today village of Samaria. Although the difference of altitude between entrance and exit (1200 m.) it is a smooth footpath, that leads you through some of the most breathtaking scenery on the island. There are ancient forests of pine, cypress, rare plants, drinkable water (every 2 km.) soaring eagles and stunning views of the surrounding Lefka Ori mountains. It is a experience that will leave an indelible mark on you. It is not be missed!

After your walk you can have lunch, a cool drink or a swim at Agia Roumeli (ancient Tarra) before take the boat that will transfer you to Chora Sfakion (Sfakia) and join the waiting coaches.
