Crete hosts one of the largest vineyards in Greece, in terms of both size and production. The Cretan vineyard has the longest history and continuous presence in Europe, if not in the entire world.
Archeological findings and historical sources have proven that Cretan vineyards have never ceased to produce wine from the Minoan times to present day.
Every day except Sunday.
It would be utterly wrong to conclude taht all wine production in Crete had similar features. In addition to commercial production, quite often one can find and still can discover domestic wines made with knowledge and passion.
The family winery that we are going to visit is a growing business. Founded in 1997 and since 2007 has moved to new privately owned premises with modern equipment. When we face the premises from a distance, anyone could take it as an olive oil mill because is situated in the middle of a lush olive grove. But making wine remains the driving force of the owners in this small winery with very interesting wines.
Wine products are red varietes Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Kotsifali, Liatiko and the white varietes Vidiano, Vilana and Sauvignon Blanc.
During our visit you will have 45 minutes of guidance from the owners and wine tasting. If you are interested in buying wines, you can have it in bottles of 0.75 lt or in bags of 5, 10, 20 lt.
